Texas Pool Compliance: Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are your signs fully compliant with Texas Law 265.201?

Absolutely. We follow a strict design framework based on the 2021 Texas State Legislature updates. We cross-reference every order against mandatory font sizes, contrasting color requirements, and specific "Warning" terminology. When an inspector walks your deck, you can be confident your signage won't be the reason for a citation.

2. How long have you provided signage for the apartment industry?

We have been the trusted partner for the multi-family housing industry for over 10 years. We understand the unique pressures property managers face—from quick turnarounds during "make-ready" season to the durable materials required for high-traffic commercial pool areas.

3. Can I add extra protection to my signs to reduce UV fading or color shifts?

Yes. While our standard prints are high-quality, we highly recommend our UV-protection upgrade for Texas properties. You have the option of requesting a professional UV-laminate or a gloss clear coat. These act as "sunscreen" for your signs, preventing the bronzing on common in outdoor signage exposed to the Texas sun.

4. I already have a pool sign; can you tell me if mine is still compliant?

In many cases, yes. Simply email us a clear photo of your current sign/s. While we will need you to verify specific letter heights on-site, we can usually identify missing language immediately. If your sign is in good shape but missing a few new rules, we can often provide "Addendum" signs to bring you into compliance without the cost of a full replacement.

5. Can you change the background and text color so it blends with my community branding?

Yes. We offer customized options for a low-cost upgrade. We believe safety signs shouldn't have to be an eyesore. We can adjust colors to complement your building's architecture, provided the contrast remains high enough to meet legal visibility standards. However, the signs must have a clear distinction, and no additional artwork or theming is allowed that intrudes into the message panels.

6. When exactly did this new law go into effect?

This law was passed by the Texas State Legislature and became applicable after January 2021. If you haven't updated your signage since then, there is a high probability that your current signs do not meet the specific formatting and language requirements of the 265.201 code.

7. I purchased a sign before the law changed, or my pool capacity/hours changed. Do I need a whole new sign?

Not necessarily. If your current sign is still in good physical condition, we can often provide secondary "Rule Signs" that serve as a legal addendum. If your hours of operation or pool capacity changed due to a miscalculation, we can provide heavy-duty outdoor adhesive stickers to update the information until you are ready for a full replacement.

8. Do you anticipate more rule changes before I buy these?

We do not see any immediate legislative changes on the horizon. While lawmakers can revisit these codes at any time, your property is required to be compliant with the current law today. Investing in a compliant sign now protects you from current liability and potential fines.

9. A pool inspector hasn’t flagged my signs yet. Should I still consider updating them?

We highly recommend it. Compliance isn't just about passing an inspection; it's about liability and resident safety. Relying on an inspector "missing" an error is a risky strategy. Furthermore, residents appreciate a well-maintained, professional pool area, and a "Closed" sign due to a failed inspection is a major resident satisfaction issue.

10. How are the signs mounted, and will they hold up to heavy wind and weather?

Our signs are manufactured using high-grade, weather-resistant materials used for Texas climate. The easy-to-drill material can go on fences, gates, or masonry.
